BRING IT HOME RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Albert Lea Housing & Redevelopment Authority is now accepting applications for the Bring It Home Rental Assistance Program.

Bring It Home is a new rental assistance program funded through the state to create rental assistance for low-income families in Minnesota. ALHRA is authorized to administer 10 state housing choice vouchers. Vouchers assist families to afford private housing in Freeborn County.

Eligibility

  • MN residents with minor children.
  • Families that have an annual income of up to 50% of the area median income as determined by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), adjusted for family size (see HUD Income Limits).
  • Families that pay more than 30% of their annual income on rent.
  • Families not receiving federal tenant-based assistance under Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended.
  • Families not currently in a unit receiving project-based assistance under Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended.

ALHRA Bring It Home vouchers are NOT portable to any other housing authority or jurisdiction outside of Freeborn County. Applicants must also meet non-economic screening criteria that include a criminal history review.

Preference points are given to applicants who are working, elderly (62+), disabled, victims of domestic violence, veterans, or Freeborn County residents.
